Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, Inc. & The Kinship Program (AFFM) is currently running our annual Back to School Fill-A-Backpack Drive, which supports youth in foster, adoptive, and kinship care across Maine.

Each year, this program provides children and teens with backpacks, school supplies, and hygiene essentials and a new outfit (based on donations) to help them start the school year prepared and confident. This year, we are in desperate need of gift cards in $25, $50, or $75 amounts (walmart/target) so older youth can shop for their own clothing this is something many have never had the experience to do.

GUIDELINES TO FILL BACKPACKS FOR YOUTH IN CARE: Elementary School Aged Backpacks: Ages 4-9: New backpack, new school supplies (crayons and/or markers, notebooks, folders, etc.); kid size toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap. Middle School to High School Aged Backpacks: Ages 10-18: New adult sized backpack, new school supplies (mechanical pencils, binders, notebooks, etc.); adult size toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap.

*NEEDED: Gift cards for older youth to shop for their own outfits ($25, $50 or $75 increments)
