Novel Jazz brings an evening of swinging jazz and rich musical history to the Boothbay Opera House on Aug. 21 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

This Maine-based septet features musicians with more than two centuries of collective experience, performing music from the Great American Songbook with a special focus on Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, two of America’s finest composers.

Now celebrating their 22nd anniversary in 2026, Novel Jazz has built a deep repertoire by studying historic recordings and researching collections at the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress. Their concerts blend masterful performances with the stories behind the music, offering a lively look at the foundations that helped shape jazz as we know it today.
