The Shoestring Exchange Shoe Repair is a home based family owned and operated shoe repair shop located in South Portland, Maine. Shoe repair is an age old craft handed down from artisan to artisan for hundreds of years. Everyone has a favorite pair of shoes they'd like to keep looking and feeling great for years to come.
I'm Steve Foss, the owner/operator, and I was schooled in the craft of shoe repair as an apprentice for a master cobbler from Spain. I have practiced the craft of shoe repair in my shop for over 25 years, working on all types of footwear from the four corners of the world. On the second floor my wife, Daissy, offers a full complement of alterations and tailoring services. She has over 25 years of experience as a seamstress and has made everything from placemats to wedding gowns, throw pillows to formal gowns!
