(AFFM) does incred ible work supporting adoptive\, foster\, and kinship families- including t hose who are caring for kids outside of the formal DHHS system. The world of child welfare is complex\, guided by a web of laws and regulations\, an d the decisions made around these families are rarely simple. That’s why it’s so important to create moments that are just about connection\, co mmunity\, and joy.\nFor the past few years\, we’ve held events to bring Resource Families together\, what started at Ferry Beach in Saco has conti nued in places like Fort Knox\, thanks to our Bangor office. This year\, w e're doing things a little differently with a Family &\; Community Day at Fort Williams. It’s going to be a full day of food\, games\, and acti vities- not just for foster families\, but for the whole community. Our go al is to celebrate these incredible families\, give the kids in care some fun\, typical childhood experiences\, and raise a little awareness around fostering while we’re at it.
