Pursued by authorities who choose to ignore a clear case of self-defense due to her Indian heritage and influence from sinister figures from the shadowy criminal underworld, she turns to Miss Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Dorothy Watson for help. Miss Holmes Returns is theatrical “fan fiction” that explores feminist themes using the characters, settings, and tropes created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to explore the added challenges and risks faced by these iconic characters if they were women, while also examining the intersections of sexism, classism, and racism. Waterville Opera House seeks a diverse group of singers, actors and performers including, but not limited to gender identities, body types, ages, abilities, sexual orientation, and ethnic and racial backgrounds. Waterville Opera House is seeking to fill all roles as stated in the character descriptions, all ethnicities welcome. For Sherlock Holmes and Dorothy Watson, we are looking for female actors to reflect the gender-swapping of these traditionally male characters. For all other characters, we are open to actors of all gender identities. We are actively seeking actors of Indian/ Middle Eastern descent for the role of Priya.
