Church continuing annual event despite COVID challenges Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will hold a one-day, drive thru Festival on Saturday, September 11, 2021,from 11am-6pm.
The popular annual event celebrating Greek food and culture draws people from all over southern and central Maine. This year will follow last year’s drive-up format in order to offer a safe experience in a time of high COVID case numbers. According to Georgia Chomas, Festival Committee member, “We wanted to go back to our traditional two-day format with dancing, Taverna, pastry selection, Orthodox artifacts and popular white elephant area but realized the time isn’t right.
Because this year marks the 20thanniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the church will be open for those who wish to light a candle in memory of those who perished.
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church has been part of the Lewiston Auburn Community for more than 100 years. Originally located on Lincoln Street near the City’s newly arrived Greek immigrants, it’s now located at 155 Hogan Road in Lewiston.
