DESCRIPTION:Interested in local history?  Want to meet new people while gi
 ving back to your community?\n\nBecome a Portland History Docent!   Our 
 11-week program (classes on Thursday mornings) teaches folks all about loc
 al history\, as well as guiding techniques-all with an eye towards finding
  volunteers for our 11 local historic non-profits!!!\n\nWe ask graduates o
 f the program to give at least one season as a volunteer-but we hope you'l
 l have such a good time that you'll want to return year after year!  Our 
 sites in include Victoria Mansion\, Evergreen Cemetery\, the Portland Obse
 rvatory\, Maine Irish Heritage Center\, the 5th Maine Regiment Museum on P
 eaks Island\, Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse\, and more.\n\nCost of the pro
 gram is $50 which covers visits to all 11 sites as well as our terrific cl
