Special Olympics York County and Sanford High School’s JMG program is pleased to announce the 4th annual Candlepin Bowling Competition which will take place on

Friday, October 27, 2023 at Bowl-A-Rama located at 1217 Main Street, Sanford. The competition will be traditional singles and singles ramp bowling (athletes are not allowed to use bumpers).

No experience necessary!

*The schedule for the day is as follows:

9:00AM – Check-in at Bowl-A-Rama

9:15AM – Head coach meeting and athlete warm-ups

9:45AM – Opening Ceremony

9:45- 11:30 – Competition (2 rounds of bowling)

11:30 – Lunch (pizza and water)

12:30 – Awards

*Times will be adjusted based on the number of registrants.

This event is for athletes in high school through adulthood. Divisions will be determined based on age groups. Please note, athletes will not be able to compete without a current medical and other athlete registration form on file. All forms needed can be found here at the Special Olympics Maine Athlete Registration.

The cost is $11 per athlete and includes 2 slices of pizza and water.

Checks or cash can be made payable to Bowl-A-Rama and are due Friday, October 6th by dropping off or mailing to Sanford High School at:

All athletes must be registered and paid by October 6th. Day of registration and payment will not be accepted as we need to plan ahead for staffing and food. Coaches or other adult helpers are also able to purchase pizza by adding an additional $3.00 per person and paid by October 6th.
