Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, Inc. (AFFM) does incredible work supporting adoptive, foster, and kinship families- including those who are caring for kids outside of the formal DHHS system. The world of child welfare is complex, guided by a web of laws and regulations, and the decisions made around these families are rarely simple. That’s why it’s so important to create moments that are just about connection, community, and joy.

For the past few years, we’ve held events to bring Resource Families together, what started at Ferry Beach in Saco has continued in places like Fort Knox, thanks to our Bangor office. This year, we’re doing things a little differently with a Family & Community Day at Fort Williams. It’s going to be a full day of food, games, and activities- not just for foster families, but for the whole community. Our goal is to celebrate these incredible families, give the kids in care some fun, typical childhood experiences, and raise a little awareness around fostering while we’re at it. Everyone’s welcome, and we’d love to see you there!
