The South Portland War Veteran’s Memorial Association is sponsoring the annual South Portland Memorial Day Parade! 

The South Portland War Veterans’ Memorial Association, which is chaired by the American Legion Post #35 of South Portland as a traditional parade and Ceremonial Organizers will be sponsoring the following events:

Saturday May 24th: Veteran Grave Flagging Program

We will meet at the American Legion Post #35 at 8:30 AM and depart at 9 AM, in designated groups, to place Veteran Gravesite Flags at various Southern Portland Cemeteries

Monday May 26th: Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

The Memorial Day Parade will form at SMCC Parking Lot at the North end of Broadway, starting at 9:30 AM and will step off at 10:30 AM sharp. It will continue down Broadway to the Veteran’s Monument, beyond Pratt Abott where there will be a short Memorial Day Recognition Service. The parade will feature marching bands, color guards, floats, an array of vehicles and more.

Schedule:

9:30 AM – Parade participants begin forming at Southern Maine Community College Parking Lot at the North end of Broadway.

10:30 AM – The parade steps off. The parade begins at SMCC and continues down Broadway to the Veteran’s Monument, just beyond Pratt and Abbott, where there will be a short Memorial Day Recognition Service.

The parade ends at roughly 11 AM.
